Using non-GMO seeds, the power of harvesting seed lies firmly with the farmer, unlike BT cotton, where expensive seeds have to be bought from corporates.

 

Farmers and their family having organic fields are not exposed to harmful insecticides and pesticides due to which several deaths have been reported.

Native cotton species are more adept to handle drought and are more pest resistant.

GMO seeds and pesticides primary aim are to reduce the attack of pests. The effect it has over good insects like earthworms is devastating. Over time pests become tolerant and the soil loses its nutrient

to increase the water table in the area.

 

Water and soil stay fertile and does not affect other living beings including cattle.

 

 

 

Colourfull Nature

Our fabrics are dyed, using the naturally PH sensitive elements, without any chemicals based on studies from different regions of south India. We aim to bring a positive influence to the environment by reducing pollution to the water bodies and protect ourselves from   hazardous chemicals.

To revive the old Indian tradition of the  dyeing art which was flourishing before the advent of industrial colonization .

The dyes generate income for flower pickers,artisians and local production assistants .

 

The farmers nearby are not affected by the industry.Conventional dyeing units pollute and make the fields untenable for farmers.

Latest studies,show that some chemical dyes are carcinogenic ,while others might cause skin allergies.Our fabrics have no chemicals on it and is safe for sensitive skin.

Since the dyes are completely natural , they are highly biodegradable .

Major dyeing towns like Tirupur , have their water sources like Noyal river affected due to effluents from conventional dyeing.Natural dyeing is a sustainable alternative, which is soft on the environment and its people.

Dyeing Process

Tacoma

The dye is present in the bell shaped flowers. The handpicked flowers are dried in natural light successively for 3 days. It is then soaked in  water,thoroughly to extract colour. During dyeing ,milk, plantain sap and vegetables oils are added to get various shades and finish.

Mariegold

The dye is present in flower petals. The petals are separated ,exposed and cured in natural light for 7 days. The separated dye are mixed into dye bath. During dyeing plantain ash, cane sugar and vegetable oils are added to strengthen the dye.

Clitoria

The dye is present, more in the soft edges of flower petals which is hand picked separately and crushed with rice wash water . During dyeing plantain sap, sour milk ,cane sugar and rise tart are added at various stages to get effective dye results.

Palash

The dye present in flower, requires alkaline medium for complete dye extraction. We use ash of, burnt coco palm leaves and the fermented concoction made from baked lentils , Urad dhal , Toor dhal and Green gram. During dyeing we add plantain sap , rice tart and vegetable oil, which would strengthen the dye further and sheen of dyed material.
